The Axes

Guitar #1 is a 2019 Gibson SG Tribute.

Modifications:

• Replaced the stock 490r neck pickup with a Bare Knuckle Nantucket HSP90
• Added a cover to the stock 490t bridge pickup
• Swapped black top hat knobs

Guitar #2 is a 2012 Fender Standard Telecaster (MIM). This was my main guitar for gigs.

Modifications:

• Swapped stock pups with Porter Standard Tele pickups
• Replaced stock with a 0.047uF Polystyrene cap
• Installed new Switchcraft jack
• Replaced string tree with a Fender (American Series) string guide
• Replaced strap buttons with Dunlop Straploks
• Replaced stock bridge with a Joe Barden 3-saddle bridge
• Installed a 4-way Oak Grigsby switch
• Installed ElectroSocket jackplate

Guitar #3 is a Fender 62 Reissue MIJ Stratocaster. I use this primarily for studio recording.

Modifications:

• Replaced the stock pickups with a Bare Knuckle Pickups Apache set.
• Replaced stock red tortoise to a US parchment pickguard
• Replaced stock strap buttons with Dunlop Straploks
• Installed new Switchcraft jack
• Replaced stock to CTS 250K potentiometers
• Replaced stock to 5-way Oak Grigsby switch

Guitar #4 is a 2018 Gibson Les Paul Tribute.

Modifications:

PRS SE Custom 24 (MIK)

Modifications:

• Replaced stock with Oak Grigsby 3-way switch
  • Switch tip replaced with clear tip (stock tip can’t fit anymore)
• Replaced stock with Switchcraft jack
• Replaced strap buttons with Dunlop Straploks
• Rounded off the stock nut
• Changed to 0.033uf Orange Drop capacitor
• Pickups:
  • Neck: Seymour Duncan Jazz
  • Bridge: Seymour Duncan JB

Fender Jaguar (CIJ)

Modifications:

• Swapped stock with Mustang bridge
• Replaced strap buttons with Dunlop Straploks

I had a project (“parts”) guitar for heavier tones. The guitar went through a lot of experimentation and most of the work was done by Jon of Elegee Custom Guitars.

• Basswood Body (used the body of an old Ibanez AX guitar)
• 2-vol, 1-tone configuration with push/pull coil-split toggle
• Treble bleed cap installed
• 3-way pickup selector

• Bolt-on Elegee Custom 3-pc. maple neck
  • 16″ radius
  • Rosewood fretboard w/ jumbo frets (bounded)

  • Sperzel locking tuners
• Pickups:
  • Neck: DiMarzio PAF Pro (.022uf cap)
  • Bridge: DiMarzio Tone Zone (.033uf cap)

Acoustic guitar is a stock Takamine GX11ME-NS.

For beats and synths, I use an M-Audio Code 25 MIDI controller.

Primarily using a stock Boss Katana MkII 50.

I was previously using a Vox AC4TV as my home practice amp. I swapped out the stock 12AX7 preamp tube with a JJ 5751 to increase (clean) headroom.
